Title: New Canon70-200 2.8L IS II. It was varifocal, now parfocal.
Post by: vstrglv on October 18, 2013, 06:50:20 PM
I've bought new Canon 70-200,2.8 L IS II USM and notice that focus point goes back if I change focus length from 200mm to 70mm.  I decided to increase a bit a distance from camera to the lens.
  Start on the back. Unscrew four bigger screws. Insert  thin metal sheets between bayonet joint and lens body near each screw. In my case it was thin metal sheet from beer can. It thickness was 130mkm.Then screw these screws. Now my Canon 70-200,2.8 L IS II USM is perfectly parfocal.

You need to make 2 videos, one showing what you did, and another showing example footage!

I guess that it is possible to adjust this lens for parfocal only if you need to increase distance from camera to lens. May be it depends on a lens copy.

I think it's not a matter of lens copy.

@5D3shooter, you'll fall in love soon :)

I CANT WAIT!!  B&H is shipping it out today, so hopefully I'll have it by the weekend.  I also got a HOYA HD protection filter and a BlackRapid Sport 2 strap.  Going to be a great unboxing!

130mkm is 130 microns(mikrons)?

Which I believe would be 0.13mm.
