Title: Music
Post by: painya on October 17, 2013, 03:01:18 AM
I hope this can be thread where be can share the sites they get music from. Like an unlicensed music site, or even a certain artist you love.
-I am not asking for the songs you are going to use yourself because that is your own secret ;), but I want to start a helpful thread where people can find sources for music.
Personally, I get a lot of my music from http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/ or off of a site listed on this page https://creativecommons.org/legalmusicforvideos
Hopefully we can get something going here :D
-Thanks,
Painya

I'm a musician and I do most of my own music for my timelapses. Usually I either write something myself or record myself playing a classical piece that is in the public domain. This is my hobby and so everything I do I tend to release under CC non-commercial. I'm certainly open to doing some collaboration if anyone is interested (for any non-commercial project I felt was worth while, I would not charge).

That's awesome. Do you have a website?

No, I've been meaning to for a long time, just never the time to get around to it, as its just a hobby. You can check out some of my videos on vimeo that I've done music for though:

Finding music for my Videos is not a problem. I use Magic Lantern to (help) create the music videos for my own songs  :P

And even if I don't do something related to my music, I can just create my own short music sequence. If you also want to do that you can check out FL Studio by Image Line. The basic Version is free. And you can do whatever you can imagine with it.

But I also know a few pages that allow you to have royalty free music:
http://freemusicarchive.org
http://royaltyfreekings.com
http://mattmcfarland.com
http://audionautix.com
http://anthonykozar.net/music
http://freemusicforvideos.com
http://beatsroyaltyfree.com

Also there are many beat producers on youtube. They usually are very happy if you use one of their pieces. :)

Lol that's how I got into this video/film world as well :P Making images for my music! I'd post my site, but unfortunately godaddy is holding back my site because I'm broke for the next two weeks lol (I'm an ableton guy myself; heavy into the strings/composition arena)

But yeah nice links, and in sure this thread will be very helpful for any guys looking for music places!

I have found really good cinematic music at http://www.amazingmusictracks.com/.  Also, they gave me a free license just for signing up to their mailing list.
