Title: 500D Live View Freezes
Post by: schwarzy on October 12, 2013, 12:29:29 AM
i'm having an issue with my 500D each time i record videos in RAW Format, with Nightly builds, Live View always freezes..
the results of the video came out perfectly but i just can't see what its recording in real time, it only shows the first frame of what i'm recording until i stop recording.. any suggestions anyone?

i'm kinda new here, i hope i'm in the right place asking this kind of question..
thank you in advance..  ;)

Yes, the 500D has this bug.
500D is not suitable for raw video, I think it a waste of time to fix bugs.

Why 500D is not suitable for raw video?
- max write speed : 21MB/s
- max res : 1584x1060 20FPS

Please could you reconsider 500D?

It allow to get beatiful crop (5x zoom 1:1 pixel) video for planetary astronomy.
This field do not require large frame size (for planets other than Sun and Moon)
640x480 22 fps 14 bit raw uncompressed video, is amazing!

I can record up to 1344x504 17 fps continuous 14 bit raw video and nowadays a dedicated video planetary 694x576 12 bit camera costs starting from 1000€

Please coul you solve the live view bug on 500D?  ;)

i am still waiting and hoping that someone can fix the live view bug too :D
stretching 1.4x to 1280 x 720 @24fps isnt that bad for a crappy 500D (can't afford new cam yet lol)

Except this is not a matter of life or death.
Still, the concept behind ML is that people that CAN do developing job HAVE to have the CAMERA and the TIME to do it.

That's quite ok, the ML project is a bit on the experimental side and not a free delivery service, but driven by what the devs want/need for themselves - and I quite like it that way, it either makes people help and contribute or they'll just stay clear.

Well , 4 years ago it was a camera . then why would include support for raw on this camera ? waving candy in front of a child? = ) But the main work already in my opinion was done. left only modify Live View...And the point is not even that I was going to conquer Hollywood with this camera. The point is to allow an ordinary user to verify successful practices and , if successful, move on. and in this case, when development stopped , where is the guarantee that buying a new camera I will not stop again? On the other hand , I understand how sometimes do not want to take up the dead work ... so that there are no correct answers . will be something to think about ...

I only have a 500D and I think 500D is not suitable for video.
You need raw 960x540 20fps video?
It does not make sense...
