What are the advantages of increasing the bitrate in ML h.264 to 2X or 3X default bitrate ?
Is it just more colour info in video files which helps with grading ? Or are there any other advantages of selecting faster bitrate for h.264 video on 5D2 ?
I use a Komputer Bay 64Gb 1000X card ... i'm guessing this is ok for 3X bitrate recording ?

It would be an easy task to find out what your card is up to:
"Normal" h.264 by Canon will write less than 6 MByte/s ...

But what does that actually mean ? Higher bitrate means more resolution or more colour depth etc ?
When using ML and h.264, do most users set higher bitrate to maybe 1.5x-2x 'normal' ?
When playing with raw video i'm shooting about 65mb/s ... so that's a hollova' difference !
I opened a topic to see if the higher bitrate improves the colour correction stage in post production. I've been looking for this infoo for some time but I have no concrete answers so far...
Technically, all it will do is reduce compression artifacts. As far as how it might affect color correction, if the video is compressed enough to cause blocking, reducing compression will make things look a bit better, but nothing dramatic like RAW video. At best, it'll make high ISO video easier to apply noise reduction to, since that's where compression will appear at its worst.
