I am keen to get a storage dvice in order to free my CF cards when shooting in the field.
Was thinking about this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/797720-REG/Nexto_DI_ND2730500G_ND2730_Digital_Photo_Storage.html
Does anyone use this device? Is it fast enough?
Thanks,
Ofer
The reviews do not look great. Also, 500GB is not a lot for raw.
I guess you are right.
How about a laptop like this one? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/972672-REG/sony_svf14215cxw_vaio_fit_14e_svf14215cx.html
Will it be able to copy the CF cards fast enough via the USB 3 port and a proper USB 3 card reader?
What is "fast enough?"
500GB is probably plenty for a field dump/backup solution, though at this point I'd be surprised if someone weren't making one with 1T of capacity or more (but yeah, definitely look for one with good reviews).
Even at 4GB / minute for raw, 500GB is around 120 minutes of footage. How much do you plan to shoot in a day?
If it's just for offloading you can pick up a secondhand Asus 1015E with USB3 for about the price of a good 32gb CF card. It's not brilliant but will do the job fast.
