Title: Sigma Zoom AF-APO 75-300mm F4.5 - 5.6 Canon Mount SLR Lens - Adapter to 650d?
Post by: lukeshoe1993 on July 22, 2013, 12:57:35 AM
Hey guys,

I found an old Sigma Zoom AF-APO 75-300mm F4.5 - 5.6 Canon Mount SLR Lens whilst clearing out a friends house, he said he didnt want it and gave it to me. Win!

However I was wondering if there is an adapter in order to make it compatible with my Canon 650D?

Cheers!

The old canon lens mount are FD and FL.
I'm guessing it's going to be FD so just search for something like;
FD to EOS mount
or
FD to EF mount
(EF and EF-S being the EOS mount).

The problem:
What you will encounter is that the old canon lenses sit a different length to the film than they would to the digital sensor, so if you get ring converter you will not be able to focus to infinity, but you will be able to do macro.
There are ring converters which have an extra lens in them which refocus' the focus point, but it will magnify it again, so you will get an even narrower field of view (it has like a 1.25x teleconverter effect), this also means that your aperture will be shrunk slightly, and less light will enter the camera.
Also those ones cost about 100 bux, and I haven't found a very good quality one, there are lot of 'zekkor' ones or something like that brand name on ebay, but the reviews I read for them weren't good.
