Title: RAW 2K for Dcp 2048 x 858
Post by: Rumore on June 18, 2013, 01:29:13 AM
Hi,

I'm Giorgio from Italy,  Thank you for the amazing work !

Can you change the settings in 2048 x 858?
The flow of data would be less than 1920 x1080 :)

sorry for my english :P

You can get 2048x856 in one of the zoom modes.

So you confirm me that.. Can we go any not change the wide and cut to 2048 and 1080 to 858 if not losing quality on the pictures? Was thinking about this, because in reality the number of pixels would be less than 1920 x 1080... This link is in Italian, but look just the picture:

Thank you so much :)

2048x1080 is technically possible with a fast card but the devs just haven't enabled it in the test builds. I'd like to start shooting 2048 x 818 myself.

Yes you can and yes it is less data than 1920x1080. I have a 1000X card and record near 3000 frames before buffering out at 2048x872 using the 5X crop mode, I cannot even get 300 at 1920x1080 with my MK5D2. There is no loss in quality, in fact the way the 5X crop recording mode works the quality is better than the same resolution not recorded in crop mode since it doesn't have the anti-aliasing issues.

These features are already enabled in the current builds but, to shoot larger than 1880 at least on the MK5D2 you have to shoot in the 5X or 10X crop modes, you enable this by pressing the zoom button on your camera that zoomes into the live view for checking focus. Just leave it zoomed in and start shooting.

I was trying to get 2 K trying everything. Tell me how and I film a movie with 5d mark III ;)

Thank you so much guys !!!  ;)

I was undecided whether to purchase the new blackmagic 4k or eos 5d MK III ... This point will remain in canon. Thank you!!!

Grazie mille ;)
