Title: Headphone monitoring for the 6D
Post by: zamsak on June 15, 2013, 10:05:32 AM
Hi everyone,

Presently I own a 5DMkII and a 550D. My main work is to make web videos for a lot of clients, and this wouldn't have been possible without Magic Lantern. Now I am thinking of selling off the 550D and upgrading to a new 6D. My question is

I do not have the budget to go for a MK3, would rather put my money in Lenses as they depreciate on a much lower rate.

Thanks in advance

Saket

My recommendation would be to flog off both existing bodies and shoot straight to the 5D3.

You won't have to worry about if's, maybes and when's, and you'll get all the benefits of the 5D3 as soon as it's in your hands!

6D upsides - pretty fast, good amount of memory, great low light.
Down sides: Moire, SD only, no monitoring yet (need to find audio IC), wav + raw not feasible because of SD

QuoteWill magic lantern run perfectly on 6D in future? Or will it be a case of the 7D which is taking time

I dunno if ANYTHING ever runs perfectly. Will windows ever run perfectly? I'd say its pretty nice right now and has been for a few months.

720P 60 IMO seems useless for any professional work. If you pick an SD camera for raw, you're going to have a bad time.

Thanks a lot! I need 2 bodies, and somehow the MK3 is out of my budget. For web videos, for sure wont be using the RAW mode, so I am ready to sacrifice that. But was concerned regarding the audio.

And well the existing ML on my MK2 is perfect enough for me :) Hats off to the team and their efforts.
