Title: Uncompressed 14-bit RAW video recording - Development discussion
Post by: Audionut on June 01, 2013, 06:41:37 AM
The last thread (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5247.0) was getting quite large and was becoming more of a general banter thread.

Please keep this thread to development discussion only.

General discussion/banter should be in this thread (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5963.0)

Video showing problems/issues with this feature are welcome in this thread.
Video showing how great this feature is, should be shared in the Share Your Videos section (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=19.0)

There are plenty of tutorials and how-to's in the Tutorials and Creative Uses section (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=15.0), including plenty of pinned threads.

Specific bug reports should be made in the Bug Reports section (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=23.0) to make it easier to keep track of, and for other users performing searches.

Feature requests should be made in the Feature Requests section (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=24.0) for the same reasons.

If you're looking for compiled builds to try, have a look in the Newest compiled builds for RAW recording thread (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=5413.0)

All other RAW video based discussion should go in this section (http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=49.0)

I have a problem with the video.  After I extract the dngs from the raw, the highlights have vertical black bars.  I'm using the latest RAw2DNG program that seem to remove the vertical bars.  Perhaps it's during the extraction phase.

I'm not sure how to post a photo on this forum.  I did a quick search for "highlight" and I didn't see any related threads for this problem.

Okay, I've confirmed it is from the new RAw2DNG.exe,  I did the extraction with the old raw2dng.exe and there aren't any vertical black stripes in the highlight clips.

Regards,

Looks like those zebras are working well.  :D

I noticed a tiny white/red horizontal line on the first frame of todays build, it's repeatable and in the same spot in every shot, it's only on the first frame so it's a non issue for me. Here's a couple of dngs if ya wanna have a look a1ex-

@squig: ML does not fix bad pixels, try sensor cleaning.

@scurrvy2020: are you sure it's the latest raw2dng from hudson bitbucket? and upload the DNGs, not the jpegs.

you should see the dngs in there.

The old raw2dng was the may 26 file. The new one was may 30, which is the most recent one i found.

I reverted back to the previous days build and there were no dead pixels, then I reinstalled todays build and the dead pixels are gone  ??? Like I said if it only affects the first frame it's a non issue but I thought you might wanna know because I hadn't seen anything like that before.

Hello A1EX,  it looks like I wasn't using the latest Raw2Dng.exe  even though I had one from the same day.  I redownloaded and extracted and I don't have any of the vertical bars.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

Just in case there is anyone else that may have a similar confusion as scurrvy2020, make sure you download from hudson download page.

Just installed [113] BigMemPhoto.zip. When I go to the raw video option, resolution and aspect ratio both are greyed out and say "N/A". I then see another resolution tab farther down in the raw video section. The option says that the resolution is at 576x-32. What the hell? On the bottom it says cannot write at this resolution because it will be writing at -.7mb/s? I try changing all of these values but it doesn't work...

--Nevermind lol, I just restarted my camera and it works...

The shutter works at cryptic values, when 'override fps' is active and set to any different framerate than the selected from canon menu.
That's no real problem for me; for I'm recording with 25p - without the need to override.

But for someone who's willing to use film standard 24,000fps, it can be important.

Just to let you know.

EOS 70D is out, it has a double CMOS sensor and I just thought, maybe that it can be used as HDR RAW recording two tracks at the same time  ;D I just hope it's system is not completely changed.
