Currently (on the 5D3) you can shoot RAW video in either Movie or Still mode. Are there benefits/drawbacks to one over the other? If not, isn't it a good idea to settle on only one, and avoid having to implement, test and explain the other?
Or are there features that are unique to each?
I have noticed that while recording with Video Mode I have control of f-stop while in photo mode the f-stop remains wide open. I am not sure what other differences are there but there must be others.
In photo mode, raw histogram is adjusted to match the CR2 one. When recording raw, this can have severe side effects on the video exposure (white level will be wrong).
Therefore, I'm restrincting raw recording to movie mode.
a1ex, I have a 50D. Does what you say mean that I need to enable Movie mode in ML menu?
Of course.
