Title: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?
Post by: a1ex on May 17, 2013, 04:43:13 PM
I need some help with a little experiment.

Source: https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/commits/3046238719b2
5D3 113 binary: autoexec.bin (http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/5D3/experiment/autoexec.bin)

Run it from Debug menu, "Card buffer benchmark (infinite)". It will write a 256MB file with random buffer sizes, which should help us find the optimal ones. The results will be saved in BENCH.LOG on your card - send me these files and I'll post some nice graphs.

(http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/bench-long.png) (http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/bench.png) (http://a1ex.magiclantern.fm/bleeding-edge/raw/bench-normalized.png)

You can run the test for as long as you can (1 minute, 1 hour, until the battery runs flat, or leave it during the night if you have an AC adapter).

Be careful:
- BENCH.LOG is overwritten every time you run the test.
- Don't forget about Canon power saving.
- LiveView will shutdown after 30 minutes no matter what, so it's probably best to run it in photo mode.

I know the file size is a bit small, but I'm trying to find the repeatability of this process. Also I want to see if the variations are white noise or there's a clear pattern (e.g. if there are any preferred buffer sizes). Current hypothesis: best buffer sizes are from 16 to 30 MB, with a small speed drop at 32MB.

If you are worried about card wear, don't run the test ;)

You can also post results from other cameras.

Here's an Octave script that you can use to parse BENCH.LOG. It might work in Matlab too.

d = dlmread('BENCH.LOG', ' ', 4, 0);
bufsize = d(:,1);
speed = d(:,2) / 10;
plot(bufsize, speed, '*')

i can run it on 5Dmkiii, but i have no clue how, my guess - first  is to replace autoexec on the card,
"source" step is mystery to me, then run the test from debug menu, then send you a bench.log,
but what do i do with this piece of code from the first link  :)?

600D and 6D are up with this test too.

You can see what code are running on your camera, review it, see if it has viruses, whatever you want. Welcome to open source world ;)

Now it would be nice to have more data points, but this takes time.

I'm running it on a 5D Mk III with a 400x 16GB Lexar CF card, I don't know if with that speed the benchmark would be of any help but it can't harm  :)
I have more than half charge on the battery so it can take a while.

If you're looking for a certain amount of time I can do that... I also have other cards a 400X and a 600X both Transcend if that helps....

I run it for 20 minutes. It got a max of 42MB/s which is not what it usually gets when recording RAW (tried at 1280x720).
I repeat it was a 5D Mark III, Lexar 16GB 400x CF.

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?
Post by: a1ex on May 17, 2013, 07:41:11 PM
Updated graphs in the first post. Thanks guys!

The absolute value is not very relevant here; I'm looking for drops in the write speed. If these drops are clearly correlated with certain buffer sizes, then we'll know how to avoid them.

I hope some of you can also run a longer test, over a couple of hours.

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?
Post by: Peter on May 17, 2013, 10:46:43 PM
Here are the results of a 3 hour stress test on a 5D Mark III & Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB.

I was a little concerned about heat but card and camera body didn't get warmer than after a 10 minute test.

These long tests are really nice. Keep them coming, please!

Safe to leave unattended?

I could pop out an 8 hour test while I'm at work.

Wow, I guess that goes to show that not all cards are created equal... the Sandisk card is a mess of inconsistency compared to the Transcend cards!

Well, 1% told me that 32MB is a bit slower, and a screenshot from EOSHD seems to confirm this (98.1MB/s with 31M buffer and 88.4 with 32). I want to see if this variation is measurement noise, or if there are some buffer sizes that are really slower. But from these early results, it seems not to be the case.

A rather relevant question is "how repeatable are these tests at the same buffer size"? A card might be rather fast when it's empty, but fill it up, and it'll slow down as it does live garbage collection. An old card I had been using for an embedded system wrote at 15MB/sec initially, which degraded to 9MB/sec after a month of use.

The old 50nm X25-M comes to mind here

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?
Post by: g3gg0 on May 18, 2013, 02:35:45 AM
maybe this is useful for this test:

https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/commits/1d5cc48c11dbb80b5e48fff8012a0b769ba07d44

it directly accesses CF controller and reads out CF internal data.
see ATA/CF specification for IDENTIFY DRIVE command 0xEC

These long tests are really nice. Keep them coming, please!
I have the results from 4hrs of SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB 100MB/s CompactFlash card and 2.1hrs of Lexar Professional 32GB 1000x CompactFlash card, but it exceeds the maximum limit of characters for the forum.  A1ex, send me instructions to email to you if you wish.

Hey a1ex and g3gg0, there's something that maybe you're missing. All flash cards (SD/CF/SSD/etc) have a fixed erase block size.

If there's no partition and the card is just formatted with filesystem then it is ok. But for those who have a partition table on them, the partition must be aligned with EBS to have optimal performance (See articles on partition alignment for SSD)

All partitions of the cards I've tested were misaligned out-of-the-box. Besides Dane-elec and Sandisk I couldn't recall the other brands. I couldn't recall the numbers but I did see performance improvements.

Instead of trying to find EBS for all cards, I suggest aligning the partition at 1MB, so it should fit almost (if not all) EBS.

An utility to check alignment: http://www.tcpdump.com/kb/os/windows/disk-alignment/all-pages.html
(Or using MS System Information - msinfo32.exe) http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/checking_ssd_alignment

Instructions for Windows XP here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929491
Linux users should set fdisk to show entry/units to sectors and create a partition with starting sector 2048.
Of course you can use any partition manager to move/resize the beginning of the partition.

Regards,

Rodrigo

Hey dude - cool reading! Would this affect performance then or just test results?

All flash cards (SD/CF/SSD/etc) have a fixed erase block size.

I've done all my SSD's but never thought to do the flash cards.

The maximum resolution (consistent - no frame drops) I could do previously was 1600x840.  After aligning the partition table I was able to get 1920x840.  Good times!

Also, the expected MB/s calculations are borked with high frame-rates.  I've noticed occasionally that FPS override sometimes displays funky results after being set.  Most times if you go back to live-view and then back to ML menu it seems to reset itself correctly.
When trying to adjust for 23.976, often times I get it close enough, say 23.978, go back to live-view and mess around and when going back to ML menu, FPS override will now say 24.001 for instance.

Also, if I override to 48fps for instance, it appears that the MB/s calculations are getting based off 60fps set be Canon.

Also, raw2dng is displaying 30.848 fps on footage that was shot at 48fps

Wow, quite significant. Need to try it.

If you are in some NTSC mode (e.g. 24p), FPS override will try to multiply by 1000/1001. Photo mode and zoom are considered PAL for the purposes of rounding. To disable rounding, try exact FPS.

I'm pretty sure raw2dng is right here. Look in the FPS menu.

Not sure what FPS menu you are talking about.  FPS override was set to 48 fps from 60 fps (should have been in PAL) in exact mode.  I was using shutter adjustment to get perfect 180 degree shutter.  I went from live-view to ML menu a couple of times to double check FPS override was staying correct.

Just thought, would my 48fps settings get overridden because I'm shooting for a higher resolution then 1280x720?

edit:  It defiantly recorded at 30fps not 48.

I formatted the card in exFat while I was at it also, not sure what difference this has on speed.  Previously Fat32.

If you select 48fps and then move to 1080p or to zoom mode, it will clamp down to the maximum your camera can do (a little over 30fps). The value is printed in ML menu and in top-right corner.

Back to topic. Here are some results:

Just had a crazy thought: what if we change buffer sizes randomly during writing?

My quick 10-minute test seems promising. If it gets rid of the large speed drops, it's worth exploring further imo.

also would the results very much from camera to camera?

EOS 650D still running, but the results so far are very very consistent.
Sandisk UHS-I 95MB/s, as long as the buffer is bigger than 15M and it's odd the write speed is 41.4/41.5 MB/S
edit: give it a buffer bigger than 29 MB and it will decrease the speed

What is the largest contig chunk size... around there? 600D has 31MB... 32MB writes seemed to help/didn't hurt. 6D has 30 MB.. 32MB writes slowed things down.

I'm going to check alignment with the utility, in windows the starting offset was divisible by 4096 so I guess aligned already?

All my disks were aligned. Sd cars too: http://www.freewarefiles.com/Disk-Alignment-Test_program_71311.html and checked with msinfo.

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?
Post by: CFP on May 18, 2013, 06:32:38 PM
Hi. I guess since we already know that the EOS 600D wont't be able to write more then 21 MB/s this isn't really helpfull. But here is my test:

I used: Canon EOS 600D | Yesterday's Nightly Build | 16 GB 45 MB/s SanDisk Extreme SDHC

If you find a way to overclock the SD-Controller, then do it. I don't care if my camera explodes if I can record 1280 X 720 for longer then 3 seconds :p

No obvious overclock for controller... maybe somehow a few mhz at best.

can some of you with a LEXAR 1000x post the VRAMx.BMP that is being saved with this plugin?

here's one from a 32GB CF card g3ggo: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-UavK-PpYzwQk9xc0F2TUZTMWc/edit?usp=sharing

Ok, I started the test of the Hoodman Steel 1000x 64gb card (from 5min benchmark tests I get writing speed up to 116mb/s and reading up to 143mb/s). I will run the test until my battery dies and post the results here. Hope it helps :)

Hi guys.

Interested in trying partition alignment on my Lexar 1000x 32GB.  If this results in repeatable speed boost across the board this may be worthy of a thread in its own right with clear instructions for Win/Mac.  For the mean time...

I'm on Mac OS X Mountain Lion.  Here's what gdisk reports about the Lexar:

--

Disk /dev/disk2: 62521200 sectors, 29.8 GiB
Logical sector size: 512 bytes
Disk identifier (GUID): 401BD3D8-8D0B-494B-A00D-87E8368CE132
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 62521166
Partitions will be aligned on 1-sector boundaries
Total free space is 1004 sectors (502.0 KiB)

Number  Start (sector)    End (sector)  Size       Code  Name
   1              63        62520191   29.8 GiB    0700  Microsoft basic data

--

I believe I can use iPartition to adjust the start sector of the card.  Ideally what sector should it be?  Or is the card currently aligned?

Thanks!

I believe I can use iPartition to adjust the start sector of the card.  Ideally what sector should it be?  Or is the card currently aligned?

Thanks!

Set 2048 as start sector.

All of the drives I see are aligned x*(4096).. my HDDs and SD cards.

My Komputer Bay 64 GB 1000x wasn't aligned, maybe the Komputer Bay 128 GB 1000x isn't aligned and that's why it has such slow benchmarks?

My Komputer 128GB wasn't aligned either.  After alignment there was no change in performance in benchmarks.

I'm still not 100% on what the "correct" or ideal settings are
what to set the align offset at or the chunk size

Set 2048 as start sector.

Ok, gave that a shot.  That seemed to drop the write speeds a few MB/s.  I was around 59-60 MB/s before the 2048 setting, now I'm at 57-58 MB/s.  Reformatting the card in the camera restored the original partition settings and the write speeds are now about 59-60 again.

So, couple questions:

One, how exactly is the correct start sector on a FAT32 volume calculated, and are we sure 2048 is correct?

Two, is there any reason CF card performance would degrade over time from recording data at rates like these?

Thanks!

Just finished the 5h+ test (until full charged battery died). I used Hoodman Steel 1000x 64gb card. Writing speed 95% of the time was over 100mb/s. It dropped under 100mb/s only when the screen went to sleep, but when I got it back, speed returned back to over 100mb/s. Not sure why it happened.

Here are the file/results:

Please do let me know if that helps or if you need any other tests. I would love to help as much as I can.

Wow, it overlaps perfectly with the other Lexar from Jason Montalvo.

Glad to hear that :) I will be getting 4 more 64gb Hoodman cards pretty soon. I can test those to see if there is any significant difference in writing speed between same cards. I know for sure that hoodman quality control/check is top notch, so I expect them to have relatively same speed with not much difference.

The only issue I see is that I still can't record continues 1920x1280 even though card tops out up to 116mb/s writing speed, and 1920x1280 requires only 98mb/s. I think it's comes more to firmware tweaking and getting max out of it or as much as possible. Basically, optimization.

CF shootout:

SD shootout:

I've only used the log files created outside LiveView, so the results should be comparable.

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?

nice to see the information out on the chart
im noticing that my two transcend benchmarks have a difference of about 10MB/s but by doing the partition alignment

Ill go ahead and rerun the benchmarks with different alignments to see how the results vary

So I'm finding that the 5D Mark 2 and 5D Mark 3 with the built in formatting will format CF cards to FAT32 with an offset of 31K and I believe an allocation of 16K

31K of course making the CF card not aligned..aligning the partition with an offset of 32K with an allocation of 16K appears to be giving me a ~10MB/s read speed increase but a ~10MB/s write decrease

FAT32 seems to be easier for me to troubleshoot myself seeing as there are way less options
I'll keep messing with it

550D
SanDiskExtreme 32GB 45MB/s - exFAT 1024 Offset - 64k Alloc - 1 hour
http://pastebin.com/Dj7KjrfU

5D Mark 3
KomputerBay 32GB 1000x - exFAT 1024 Offset - 64K Alloc - 1 hour
http://pastebin.com/whfv5k2v

with these tests I was reading a forum that was saying a 1024 offset was a good start point and a 64K allocation would give performance increases, curious as to how these benchmarks compare to my last benchmark

Yeeeeah I'll do that and then fall asleep

I wonder if the person submitting 64gb komputerbay had it in lv-mode or just playback.

cause LV Photo maxes out at around 98mb/s
playback mode 121mb/s

A1ex what mode are we suppose to try in? so people are clear on that.

You can check from logs. I've selected only the tests that were ran outside LiveView.

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?
Post by: squig on May 20, 2013, 06:01:06 AM
Just got the Toshiba 1066x 64Gb card.  Here's the real world sustained test results with the 18/5 build. I got bored shooting my foot after 9Gb.

1928x1180 24p @ 90MB/s
1440x672 48p @ 77MB/s
1120x640 60p @70MB/s dropped frame @ 2300 frames.

I'll run the new benchmark test this arvo.

Wanted to see how differently cards performed on different cameras
The cards were setup to have default formatting
by default I mean I took the card, formatted it in the camera, loaded magic lantern onto the card, and then ran the benchmark..no tricks

For some reason it seemed like the 5D Mark 3 was having slower speeds with the SD vs the 550D

Why is yours so fast? Because you're in playback mode?
Mine only makes between 82-95

Yes i do. Mine came in FAT32 and i tryed to format it exFAT on MAC and PC. It didn't made it faster anyway...

There is one thing i still don't understand about the write buffer thing...is it possible to define the write buffersize somewhere in Magic Lantern? How and where?

How are you running the benchmark?

In photomode i get ~15mb/sec more then in videomode (that opens in liveview)...

But isn t it right to do the benachmark in video mode/ Live View because that s the mode we need...?
By the way.. Lexar 16 GB 1000x Card: About 74 MB/s permanent, i also had up to 78 MB/s

@AndreasK, What is the performance of the 1000x Transcend cards during actual shooting? Is it good enough for shooting 1080p raw or how far up will it go without dropping frames? Thank you!

32 GB Transcend for me is good for full HD 1920x1080 with Global Draw Off... have to lower it a tad if you want to get GD on...

Starts to drop frames at 1920x1280 at about 89MBs with HACK3D you can run 1920x1152 np.

My one unfortunately is not enough for 1920x1080 @24p - even with the 3Dhack it drops 1 frame every ~2 seconds.
Speed is unchanged with or without global draw. In 1928x960 I can get 25p even with global draw on

Thank you all for the info on the Transcend cards!

I'm trying to decide on what card to get for testing RAW Video, as I can't get the Komputerbay cards and Lexar is a tad on the expensive side for now :)

Any insight on the actual shooting performance of the Delkin 1000x cards?

Thanks everyone for sharing! It seems that komputerbay 64gb is at the top on Alex testchart. Still, there are people telling about problems with the bigger cards. Is there a 64gb that would be "safe" to get in terms of speed and filming in 1080x1920p?
I,m looking at transcend maybe, toshiba? Recommendations?

I bought the Transcend based on the chart but that is for the 32gb. Still it says write speed 120mb/s on the box. Dunno if my one is just a bad batch or if the 32 really is that much faster then the 64gb

I have 3 of the 32GB 1000x and they're all within 1-3MBs of each other.... I also have some 600Xs for my 7D that aren't to shabby.

Never had an issue with them and the price is right. I don't trust the Komputerbay cards for a second... I'd rather spend a little more based on all the negative reviews on Amazon.

I could not get above 1920x720 @23.976fps sustained on either the Delkin 1000x 32GB or 64GB CF cards.  Average datarate before dropping frames was 64-66MB/s.  pretty lousy performance for a 1000x UDMA7.  does the 5D3 support UDMA protocol anyway?

I just tested the Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 gb rated at 90m/s

*A quick CrystalDiskMark test gave me a number of 92 Read and 85 write speed
*In ML 1920 x 1080 Raw record it won't go higer than 82-83.

Then I tried the Lexar 64gb 1000 x rated at "up to 150" read and "up to 145" write.

*Same CrystalDiskMark test gave 120 read and 103 write.
*In ML 1920 x 1080 Raw record it is the same at 82-83.
But when trying to do 1920 x 1280 I still only get 82-83..

Sugestions?

Yes with Global Draw Off

Did i understand right that, if you deselect raw pictures or select sraw on canon menu, there are less dropped frames during raw recording?

So you can record 1920x1080 with no dropped frames on the Transcend 32?
I can record 1920x1080 24fps with both of my new Transcend 64gb 1000x but there's a little trick. The maximum sustainable speed I get is 82,9 MB/s which is just enough for recording without dropping frames.

When you put these cards on the camera and try to do 1080 24 right away they just won't. Not even recording several files. But, if you record a couple GBs, I go all the way up to 4GB, in 1920x960 and them you switch to 1080 they are just fine after that. I've recorded several 16GB files without a problem. If you switch the camera on/off, you take out the card or you don't record for a couple minutes you might have to warm them up again.

Of course they don't do 1080p 25fps because they max out at 82,9 MB/s. My cards are formated in exFAT (Quick format, 128 bytes units). Global Draw On/Off doesn't seen to affect much (~0,2 MB/s in the worst case scenario, which for these cards you should watch out). The benchmark doesn't show these speeds, though.

My guess is that they need to heat up to work to the peak. So, AndreasK, I hope it works for you too. Let me know how it goes!

EDIT: I'm using last lourenco build (22nd May).

Same build no warm up... I can turn the camera on and within seconds start recording with no dropped frames. Nothing special done to the card... the one I'm using now is fresh out of the package, loaded ML, tested after you had asked yesterday. The other 2 also work the same and they are older.

Seems that the 32gb are more stable than 64gb regarding the transcend 1000x cards?

I don't know about more stable but slightly faster... this seems to be the way with most cards.

Hi,

Can you recommend 64 or 128 gb 1000x CF for continious 1920x1080 25p RAW shoting?
As I see most people test 32 gb and there is also information than 32gb faster than bigger size but from practical side 32gb is too small for RAW so 64 or 128 looks better.

P.S. I wonder if anyone heard about SSD to CF adapters. Would be great to be able to connect fast 256-512GB SSD  through adapter into CF slot.

Best Regards,
Andrey

The Lexar 1000x and Toshiba 1066x are the top performers.

A1ex have you done the funky graph on the Toshiba benchmarks I submitted?

The Lexar 1000x and Toshiba 1066x are the top performers.

A1ex have you done the funky graph on the Toshiba benchmarks I submitted?

Do you ever get dropped frames in 1080p with the Toshiba 1066 64gb card?

@ 1080p sometimes the buffer fills after a couple of seconds on the first recording but after that it's rock solid. I'm shooting mostly 1920x840.

Yea, I figure that initial recording frame drop happens regardless of card speeds. Good to know its solid thereafter though! Thanks for the info! I'll pick one up!

There's been at least one build in the last week that didn't drop frames on the first recording, damned if I know which one.  :'( Shooting is going really smoothly for me, I wish I could say the same about post. Adobe camera raw just wasn't designed for moving pictures.

Regards,

Rodrigo

Sorry for this noob Question, but I do not understand how you can create an align partition that can be usable in the camera, as every time the 5D read the new partition (with a good alignement), it detect that partition wasn't create in the DSLR, so I'm obliged to format the CF inside and the alignement goes out... I'v try many time, using the freeware "active partition manager" and I very don't understand what's wrong ...

I'm very disapointed as I have 2 Komputerbay x600 wich max up at 30Mb/s with bad alignement. Hoped to gain some biterate with alignement...  :'(

There's something I don't understand, I try my Komputerbay 600x (just formated in the 5Dmk2) on cristal diskmark on an CF reader USB3, and I got 61MB/s with 4000MB test files but 0.5 MB/s with 512k files. When I try benchmarking in ML menu, I maxed 25-30MB/s

My question : Is there difference or inconsistency between caching RAM / controller on the 5D hardware as I see many people with mk2 maxing at 60/70 MB/s with some KB, or is it only the CF ?

really Sorry for this noobesque questions  :'(

Komputerbay write speeds aren't consistent, it's a lottery.

from a amazon comment on 128 GB Komputerbay card

"The tech support person was great to talk to, here is a bit of inside info he gave me. They use micron/crucial chips on the 128GB card and a MSI (I think it's LSI) controller if I remember correctly. He said it the same as the Lexar 1000x cards. The Komputerbay smaller CF cards use samsung chips."

So maybe the 128GB is not a lottery and the price is between the Lexar 32 and Lexar 64.

What do you think?

I don't know if I should go for a Komputerbay 128GB or a Lexar 32GB 1000x

Hey dude, it is better for you forget about Komputerbay 128Gb
I have bought a new one from Amazon and this is the score

YOU CAN'T record RAW 1920x1080 16:9 25 Fps

I'll go with refund and I'll use my Lexar 32Gb (record flawlessly raw 19820x1080) until CF-to-SSD will be ready

I made a quick benchmark of a SanDisk Extreme 45MB/s. After formatting it to exFAT file system, it gives stable 20+MB write speeds.

Title: Re: Card benchmark - what's the optimal write buffer size?

@ all the people using Transcend cards operating near 83 MB/s:
Have you already tried the "AutoFormat" tool that Transcend provides to low-level format the cards?
http://de.transcend-info.com/support/DlCenter/dllogin_t.asp?Link=|support|dlcenter|software|AutoFormat.zip
I´ve read one report of a ML user on amazon.de that autoformat did solve his problems and he was able to record 1080p afterwards.

Best wishes,
Andreas

I never had to use any special format-tool. I worked straight away

Where is the tool in the menus? Still can't find it...

edit: And now, of course, upon registering just to ask this question, I find it :P

The CF graphic image in dropbox has been disabled :/ I had a lot of problems with the shipment of the Komputerbay card here in Italy. Now I have the chance to choose again.
The big question is, 32GB or 64?

Chiming in to say the 128GB Komputerbay card was total junk. The speeds were all over the place, but it did roll raw for a bit. I kept getting multi-color weird pixel artifacts (weird glitches), that I saw one other person have in this forum. They said the problem went away when their komputerbay card was returned. Mine also stopped working, so that helps my cause. My advice: Don't gamble with Komputerbay, it's not worth the headache.

And here's that weird artifact I got:

I remember seeing something like this on another thread and I think the card died shortly afterwards. It had the same artefacts you experienced

Yeah, the card is being sent back today. Bought a Lexar instead. ;)

Stumbled upon these few lines, and figured out my "problematic" card is not aligned "properly"... How do you align a partition without having 5DM2 have you format it again?

In windows run command line and type diskpart:

1) List your disks "list disk".
2) select the flash disk,  "select disk #".  Where # is the drive where the card is, be careful to select the correct drive number.
2) "clean" (wipes current partitions) *be sure it's the correct drive!*
3) "create partition primary align=4096"
4) "active" (sets the partition active/boot)

Now your card should be recognized by windows and will ask if you want to format.
Click yes and select fat32 with 64 kilobytes for partition size.

@RenatoPhoto: you're the man, thanks a ton!
Let's see if this affects the performance of this CF...

Huh... totally don't know what happened!

"BOOTDISK flag is ENABLED. AUTOEXEC.BIN found. !!! ML/DATA/FONTS.DAT !!! NOT FOUND !!! Please copy ALL ML files on your SD card. They only take a few MB.

I'm on a 5DM2, there ain't no SD :)
Any ideas?

When you use new builds you have to replace everything.  Cannot mix old ML with new autoexec.bin and modules.

Yeah, i got that long time ago... The problem was the card this time, after a Windows format i guess it's not bootable any more so i had to use the EOScard tool.
Bottom line is... the alignment didn't do a damn thing :( Bullshit Duracell CF, i was hoping i can start playing with it & ML RAW...

What is the right way to run the bench - LV or not LV? Any specific mode or settings required for accurate results?
