Title: 550D nightly build
Post by: campbell1 on May 16, 2013, 02:43:28 PM
Hello wonderful people at Magic Lantern. Long time user, first time poster;

I installed the nightly build last night on my 550D. I got it to run fine, but there was no RAW video function :(

I was hoping to play around with it, maybe get it going at 720p or something...

Any hope?

+1, I associate to the question. Even SD resolution will suffice !  ;)

You know that those RAW frames are a 100MB each! Don't think that our poor old SD cards, at 20mbit write speed, will suffice. I have tried different resolutions of DNG silent pic and the cropped sizes tend to corrupt easily.

I haven't seen any sign of skipping or binning of the RAW image to get it's file size down (simple compression).

they are not 100MB on 550D, silent DNG shots 3,5MB each on 550D, theoretically, and you can resize them to 6,3MP resolution easily. I think its possible to stream silent pictures 1MB/each to SD card, 550D with Sandisk Extreme  "45MB" edition handles that kind a flow of data.
