Title: New user, need help with settings on Canon 50D -Choppy video
Post by: viphoto7 on May 04, 2013, 07:04:09 AM
I am completely new to magic lantern and video recording on my Canon 50D. My video is either very choppy and slow or only plays for a couple of seconds and stops.  I have been reading the user guide and searching forum, but have not found the answer.  Have tried changing to 30fps, to 640x480, ISO.  I do not totally understand bit rate but it is set at 1.0.  I am using a Sandisk Ultra Il 4G card. Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Not familiar with recording video on 50D personally.

Is it choppy on playback on your computer or choppy while recording?

Thank you for the quick reply.  It is choppy when viewed on my windows vista with itunes and QuickTime player. I also tried to view it on a windows 7 with same results.  It does not appear choppy in my live view, while I am recording.  I know the 50D was not intended for video, however I have seen some excellent videos posted by other 50D users.

Try a different player, like VLC.
