I just bought a Canon T4i.
To install ML on a mac I believe I need firmware 1.02 which does not, as yet, exist for Mountain Lion. Or, at least, when I go to the Canon website it says there is no update for a mac running mountain lion. Is there any workaround for this?

You can use the windows update .zip...just place the fir on the root of the sd card and run the firmware upgrade from the camera
Your t4i should already have 1.02
Unfortunately my T4i has firmware 1.01. It was purchased from best buy (in the u.s.) in March of this year.

Let's see what a1ex has to say, but I think all we can try is to dump your firmware and try to see if it's binary compatible with 1.02 (which means you'll be able to run ML when it comes out)
I'd say you should implement the firmware checksum to avoid bricking the cameras in situations like this ;)

I think I am out of luck for a while. In checking Canons website there is no firmware update for T4i and Mountain Lion.
Others have reported similar findings.
What ML has done is incredible and I can't wait to use it.

1.0.2 :o? I have 1.0.1 and my camera is still alive after all my preAlpha testing ::)
Well, that's unfortunate. My bad I forgot the CRC before pushing it out
CRC like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_redundancy_check ? Will that make coming releases of ML unusable for us with 1.0.1 untill Canon releases an official FW upgrade?

I would like to thank everyone for the replies. The ML community is fantastic. I did confirm with Canon that there is no firmware (as of yet) for the T4i. So, ML is not available to those of us with that camera. That said, please keep up the great work.
I'm sorry but I feel terribly confused.
There's no firmware version 1.0.2 for the 650D
Just checked with a couple of friends and none of them has it
The last available firmware is 1.0.1
Don't be sorry - We can all use future releases of ML, and that's what matters :)

Stumbled upon this thread and noticed I also have 1.01 and got mine in January in the U.S. Runs ALpha2 fine so far.
Camera firmware is 1.0.1. there is no firmware update from canon. there is only lens firmware update for Mark III and 650D
