Title: Stack Focus
Post by: jbuy41 on January 17, 2013, 11:06:58 PM
Trying stack focus.  I keep geting "soft focus limit reached", and nothing happens.  Have a 550D and using a Sigma 50-200 HSM with stablizer. Using 1/17 build.

Try changing your step size or delay.

Tried follow focus, and it works.  Delay set to 2.  Focus end pt is -3 steps from here.  Stack focus is Snap, 5steps/pic

I get "soft limit reached" with a beep.

Changed lens to canon 18-55 and got results.  Stack focus doesnt like the Sigma lens maybe.

I'm afraid it's the lens firmware not reporting the data correctly :/

In my experience only my Canon EF 100mm macro with USM works great. Very accurate step registration and reproduction.
I tried EF 50mm 1.8 and Tokina 400 5.6 and they didn't reach the preset endpoint.  I hear it's the USM type lenses that work work great.  Maybe others too.

The 18-55 canon is a new lens that came with my wife's new 500D.  I find it to be an excellent lens.
