Title: [IMPOSSIBLE] 720p on 5D mkII
Post by: shuggyrasklat on December 09, 2012, 04:04:33 AM
So how realistic/unrealistic is is to possibly see 720, with some larger frame rates?

Would love to have a native 720 at 50/60fps as well as 30/29fps, 24/25fps!

720P kinda sucks on the cameras that have it.

Sure, most of them are cropped sensors, with way less gamut and bit depth.  I think that, if I could shoot 720 on my MKii and use the high bit rates, offered by magic lantern, as well as cf cards, as opposed to sd cards, with slower rates, the large sensor and help of bit rates and ML's offerings, we'd have lovely 720!

I really just prefer to shoot at a native resolution, instead of having to scale or down res, anything.

Even if it is possible, the aliasing is going to be far worse than if you shot at 1080 and downscaled in post. That's what he means by 720p sucking on the other cameras.
