Title: 500d focus stacking manual
Post by: bernd on September 14, 2022, 10:24:56 AM
Hello,
I'm new to ML, reading all sorts of texts plus YouTube but not able to manage focus stacking on my 500d.

There are some routines describing it, some are mention to press Q which I don't have.

If I managed to set end point first, ML already told me how many steps. I think something went wrong because I didn't define start point.

How to erase an old stack? What to press instead of Q? Are there any up to date manuals for 500d?

Thank you very much!
Best wishes,
Bernd

Start with short description in Camera Help:
https://wiki.magiclantern.fm/camera_help#focus_end_point
Set Follow Focus to "Arrows" first. Try to replace instruction for "Q" button by using Picture Style button.

Come back with questions/results.

Thanks Walter, sorry for late reply due to Corona infection.

My steps are now the followings:
- enable LV
- press trash button 2 times to activate ML
- set focus with arrow keys and lock focus with *
- press trash button and go to Focus/End point and Set
- press arrow keys to left or right for values (plus or minus)
- meanwhile check focus peaking and press trash button to see possible start point
- go back with trash button for further adjustments

Something like that.
