Title: "Miroslav's Home" - EOS-M, anamorphic 1280x2160/10 bit lossless/24 fps
Post by: IDA_ML on November 22, 2021, 02:11:04 PM
Hello all,

Two weeks ago I filmed with my EOS-M this video called "Miroslav's Home" for a friend of mine who lives with his family in a village in the central part of Bulgaria.  Yesterday, November 21-st, in my country, we celebrated the Day of the Christian Family, so I thought, it might be appropriate if I post the video here for those who value traditional family virtues.

Gear: EOS-M, EF 35/F2 IS, VND-filter, EF/EFS to M adapter, Ronin SC gimbal

Mode: Anamorphic 1280x2160 / 10bit lossless / 24 fps

Post processing: MLVApp (basic adjustments), export to ProRes422LT

Video Editing: DaVinci Resolve 16 Lite, final export in 1920x1080 resolution using the H264 codec

Conversion from H264 to H265 for file size reduction by a factor of 2,5

Your comments will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

really well done!
the visuals were great.
the only issue i spotted was some shadow halos in the shot where the woman was backlit and you lifted the shadows.  hopefully mlvapp will improve in that regard.  since you use resolve, you could have processed that shot in resolve to lift the shadows with no halos.
other than that small issue, flawless!

with regard to the editing, two small items that caught my attention (distracted me, actually)

the shot of them outside in the grape vine area showed a bunch of grapes at the end of the shot in the upper left corner of the frame.  i was waiting for a focus pull to the grapes!

the first camera walking shot of the father and son began too early in the source footage.  there was a second or so before he began to walk and it feels awkward.  better maybe to cut straight to the scene in motion?

small points.  nice work!
