Title: Using Zoom
Post by: garry23 on August 25, 2020, 07:37:09 PM
I've tried to get my 5D3 with ML overlays displaying on my second monitor and, in a Win10 environment, sharing that sceen via Zoom.

But I'm failing.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to achieve the above, ie showing my ML screen via a Zoom share.

Cheers

Garry

Have you tried OBS?

Don't do video, so have never bothered looking ;-)

Thanks for the pointer.

Walter

Got OBS up and running and can get it to pick up my webcam.

I can't seem to work out how to get the 5D3 LV feed into OBS.

Any more pointers ;-)

Cheers

I read about (but didn't try) an HDMI to USB clone capture card recently that sounded interesting. https://www.diyphotography.net/convert-any-android-phone-into-an-hdmi-monitor (https://www.diyphotography.net/convert-any-android-phone-into-an-hdmi-monitor)

And BTW I did have good luck with the EOS webcam utility beta for doing a Zoom call on my 5D3 (I downloaded the one for the 5D4 and used it on a Mac). It was nice to use a wide angle lens. I don't know if you can get the ML overlays to come up though.

That's the challenge. I need to get the ML overlays showing.

Garry, are you using an HDMI capture card or USB? Don't think I ever heard about overlays with USB ...

Walter

No capture card :-(

I guess I can't do what I want, ie share a screen in a Zoom meeting, showing my 5D3 LV with ML overlays.

Oh well, such is life.

Actually you can, sort of: Use a second cam to stream first cam's screen.

I had thought of that, but it seemed too clunky.

But at least I'll be able to show the ML overlays.

Cheers and stay away from the pestilence and stupidity

If you are looking for a cheap and available (as "in stock") HDMI capture device: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0899YQ6M2
According to a Reddit user it works pretty well with EOS M and ML. Haven't ordered it yet.

Walter

Thanks.

I'll try that option, but in the U.K. this looks the one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08F76C8S8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2NSC8Z3UM9249&psc=1

Nice to hear @garry23! Thanks @Walter Schulz for the tip on the adapter.

Just ordered one for myself to try with the EOSM. Should arrive next week.
