Title: shoot with multiple shutter
Post by: mohsaied on August 06, 2020, 10:25:45 PM
OK so I am a researcher working on super-resolution and I would really like to shoot video simultaneously at different exposures/aperture and focal lengths.

The feature is conceptually simple - shoot 60 fps video and alternate between different parameters on a per-frame basis -- it seems this feature is already possible with ISO for HDR videos.

Is it possible to also add support for alternating:

1. exposure
2. aperture
3. focal length

?

Are you asking to change the aperture on a mechanical diaphragm 60 times per second? How many seconds of video do you think it is going to last before breaking?

And what about focal length... is the zoom supposed to move back at forth 60 times per second, too? How many lenses do you own that have a motorised zoom, by the way?

Exposure might be doable, since it's non-mechanical.  Aperture and focal length are impractical at 60 fps.

A better way for your goal may be to use a beam splitter and two cameras.  This would allow you to have an optically identical path for each camera, and whatever parameters you like per cam.
