I may have access to a 550D on Monday.
Meanwhile you can test if error exists with experimental lua_fix build, too.

I installed ML on a colleague's 550D, latest Nightly Build and HDMI works with and without ML. HDMI connected to monitor input. 720x480 resolution in photo liveview.
