It's like this too when I play from mplayer.(before uploading the video)
I just used the default youtube settings. when exporting from resolve...(Linux, free version.
Here's what's going on...you have a postage stamp video which is a 4:3 timeline within a 16:9 export. Double check you timeline in Resolve that it's 1920x1080. I suspect your timeline is 4:3 and you exported YouTube 1080p preset to get that result.
Are you trying to intentionally add black bars on the top and bottom as in a cinema aspect?
thanks. that fixed it.

Glad to hear! If you want the cine aspect look, change the resolution of your timeline to 1920x800 for 2.4 aspect or 1920x816 for 2.35 aspect. You'll have to re-frame your shots in Resolved by moving them up or down since the top and bottom are being cropped out. And make sure your export preset doesn't force it back to 1080 which will artificially add black bars instead of letting the device (tv, phone, or monitor) adjust to the aspect but that's just my personal preference (let the device add the bars instead of the export). Just please do not use png black bars lol.
