Title: Audio Fails To Record When Continuous Recording.
Post by: mrjoergensen on March 07, 2019, 06:12:45 PM
Hi everyone.

I am fairly new to the world of Magic Lantern - I just installed it yesterday when I received my Canon EOS M.
But prior to that I have done extensive research on the topic... Including on this forum.

The camera is to be used for longer periods of 'restarted recording'. Perhaps 1,5 to 2 hours of recording time. This is the primary reason I've bought it.

It is not vital for the camera to record in RAW and/or 2.5K - 1080p is more than sufficient at the moment.

Now... I have run some tests (4 different settings), and it seems that there's an audio malfunction that occurs after a while of recording.
All the test have been a length of 1.5 hours in total (the max of the battery), and it seems that after about 45 minutes or so, the camera simply stops recording audio (not even a silent audio file), but maintains the video recording capabilities.

I have tried to run tests with and without an external mic. I've run tests in 2.5K/RAW and 1080p. But it doesnt seem to differ.

I am running native canon 2.0.2 Firmware and ML Nightly build for EOS M Latest Build: 2018-07-02.
The SD card that i am using is as follows: Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s, SDXC, V30I, 3, Class 10 on 128 GB.

Does anyone have tips, advice, experience or a link to a thread on here that discusses this audio issue?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers!

Have you at least tried @Danne's latest experimental build from his bitbucket downloads page?

I think @g3gg0 is the one who could answer here. You could also look in mlv_snd code and see if anything in code affects audio.
How big is the recorded audio file? How many mlv files are recorded in total containig audio? In total also without audio?
