Title: Corrupted raw video files *help*
Post by: yankeesierra on January 07, 2019, 08:17:10 PM

Hello, ML fellows.

I need your help, but first, let me contextualize you.

I was trying to film some shots in ATL using ML raw video (14 and 12bit) on my 70D using a SanDisk Extreme Pro V30 SD card (overclocked 160MHz). The first shot was flawless, -(image 1)-.
Then, for my 2nd shot, the card's speed wasn't enough, so I decided to overclock it again but It still wasn't fast enough.
After facing that problem, I went from 14bit to 12bit and it worked.
Then, for my 3rd shot, there was a problem and Error 80 showed up. I removed the battery, put it back in and turned on the camera, the error was gone. I wanted to record 14bit again, so not only did I overclocked the card, but also enabled the card warmup feature, but that didn't help. I shot the rest of the videos in 12bit.

Earlier today, I was exited to spend some time editing and color grading the raw footage, until I realized the vast majority of shots are screwed up.

Image 1 is what the first shot looks like in MLRawViewer.
Image 2 is what the rest of the footage looks like in MLRV.
Image 3 is what one of the "fcked up" shots looks like in camera.
Image 4 is what the 1st shot looks like in camera.

The MLV files are large, which makes me think that the data is there, but for some reason, it isn't showing properly.

What should I do? I'm quite disappointed and upset, though.

Gear involved in this problem:

Canon 70D
Sandisk Estreme Pro V30 32GB
MLRawViewer 1.3.3
MacOS Mojave

PD. I recorded a random video today, and it is screwed up as well. Interestingly, the first shot is ok (MLRawViewer is able to export it as DNGs), but the other clips aren't. MLRV crashes when I try to play them.

Advice me please. I'm about SD overclocking and card spanning.  I have 5dm3 with Sandisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash 256Gb (160/140 Mb/s) CF card.
Should I buy the fastest SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-I U3 V30 (170/90 MB/s) SD card or it enough just SanDisk Extreme SDXC Class 10 UHS-I U3 V30 (150/70 MB/s) to have best perfomance with overclocking and card spanning with CF card?
Should I buy same size of SD card (256Gb) as my main CF card or it will enough 128Gb or less?

PS. Sorry targeted not in that theme

I have the same question I saw a SD card on eBay 128gb 150mb Scandisk as I can test if you don't record in crop Mode the sdcard spanning doesn't work so I would be happy enough if it's just would have a writing speeds of 30 mbps and then I could still transfer the bigger mlv files from the CF card to sd card
