Title: External Recording of Full Res Live View?
Post by: deltaF on August 07, 2018, 03:16:39 PM
Is it possible to record the Full Res Live View using an external Recorder which is capable of handling such big resolutions such as the AtomOS Shogun Inferno?

In more detail:

When I set the resolution in Magic Lantern to 'Full Res LiveView', is it possible to record this with a higher Framerate using an external recorder like the Shogun Inferno from AtomOS (this thing can handle 5.7K at 30 FPS) over HDMI? If HDMI is a bottleneck, would it be possible to record FULL 4K (3840x2160 or 4096×2160) at 24, 30 or 60 FPS with an external recorder?

Thanks

Edit: I am trying to do this all on a Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

Currently we know very little about the HDMI chip, see this thread (https://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=21573).

If you have "the knack (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx6HojLBsnw)", i.e. if you can figure out useful information from several megabytes of logs full of numbers, your help is welcome ;)

On 5D3, full-res images can be captured at not more than 7.5 FPS (well, unless you can find a way to overclock the sensor).

The HDMI output of the camera is 1080p 422 color. That's what you can record from HDMI.
