I don't know if I'm wrong but there isn't a clear explanation anywhere about setting the custom focus patterns. Apparently you must press "zoom out" to activate them, at least on 550D. Is there other way?
Turn on Focus Patterns, and then use the directional buttons to change between arrangements. It only works when the LCD sensor is covered/blocked.
