Title: EOS 6D Dottune acting correctly???
Post by: coach george on January 22, 2018, 12:54:01 AM
I just purchased a 6D and was excited to load Magic Lantern with Dottune AFMA.
Firmware:1.1.6
ML Daily Load:magiclantern-Nightly.2017Dec07.6D116

I worked outside today doing AFMA on both my 7D and 6D.  The 7D behaved as I saw in the video's and gave adjustment numbers.
The 6D took prox 20 minutes each test and appeared to do only 1 or 2 passes.  It then provided an adjustment value of "0".
I followed the same procedure for the 6D as I did for the 7D.
The lenses I adjusted for are:
Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 Contemporary DC Macro OS HSM Lens for Canon
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM Lens for Canon, not the ART version.
Tamron SP 70-200MM F/2.8 DI VC USD Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon EF G1

Is what I experienced correct if there isn't any correction necessary??
Thanks
George

I recently used dottune on a new lens and was confused why it wasn't working as expected.
The solution was to first manually set an adjustment value within the canon menu (anything from -20 to +20) then go back and run dottune.
I also used a print out of this http://www.testcams.com/DotTune/CrossHatch_Target.png (http://www.testcams.com/DotTune/CrossHatch_Target.png) and set the camera at a distance of 50x the focal length in millimeters
