I'm new to the forum.
I am a 500d user from about 3 years and a ML user for about 1,5 year.
for a last couple of moths when I had to change my SD Card and installed ML I had an annoying problem with focusing.
My camera in Manual mode doesn't focus when I half press the shutter, it only focuses when I push the '*'/'zoom out button.
It doesn't matter if it's live view or normal.
Same problem i mod: A-Dep, AV, Tv, P.
Hope you'll guys help me out because it's really frustrating not be able to focus by the shutter button.
Also hope that's the good forum for the topic.
It's under custom functions in the regular old Canon menu. It was switched one time for me as well by ML with an older version. I'm not sure with custom function # it is on the 500d but it will say something like 'Shutter/AE lock button' and you will want it set to 'AF/AE lock.'
It's function C.Fn. #9, set to 0 on the 550d.
