Title: How to enable change in bitrate (CBR) option?
Post by: flo1995rei on July 07, 2017, 03:37:55 PM
Hi!  :)

I got Magic Lantern for my Canon 5D Mark III firmware 1.2.3. I'm shooting in RAW video (MLV). After 5 seconds of recording it automatically stopps "Frame Skipped. Stopping". For this reason I wanted to decrease the bitrate, to reduce data amount. Unfortunately there is no option in my movie settings to make bitrate changes. Regarding to other users there should be on in the top I guess.

So my question is: Is it necessary to activate the bitrate option somewhere and if so where can I enable it?

Thanks for your answers guys!

Bitrate option is for H.264.
For RAW you have to lower resolution or lower frame rate or use experimental build offering compression and bit depth manipulation.
Recording 1080p in 14 bit raw requires a very fast CF-card. Benchmark your card first (Modules tab -> Bench.mo. Restart cam -> Debug tab -> Benchmarks -> Card Benchmarks -> Quick R/W Benchmark (1 min)) and and adjust data rate according to write speed.
