Hi,
I have a university assignment and I desperately need to talk to a working cinematographer. I just have a few questions that I need to ask. If you could drop me a PM i'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks
At your service
Or, you could just ask the questions....
Just thought it'd be better over PM.
Anyway these are the questions, I'd also need your name and if you have a reel I'd love to have a watch.
• What was your first paid job as a cinematographer?
• What did you do to get noticed?
• What do think has helped you get jobs the most?
• What experience or qualifications did you have before any professional work in the industry?
• Is there any equipment you suggest buying?
• Is there any equipment you suggest becoming familiar with?
• What is a key skill that is needed to become a cinematographer?
• How long had you been working before your debut job?
• What have you learnt from mistakes that you may have made?
• How do you communicate with the other departments/people on set?
• How do you collaborate with the director?
• What do you think is the best way to enter the industry with the aim of becoming a cinematographer?
• What tips do you have on working freelance?
• What are the benefits and drawbacks to working in a production company/in house?
• Do you think doing a Masters in Film at University is worth it?
• Where do you see the future of cinematography?
• Looking back to when you first started what advice would you give yourself?
When you say "cinematographer", do you mean someone who works on feature films?
I think we're mostly in the "videographer / filmmaker" category here. It is a forum for a hacked DSLR after all!

Yeah I know was getting desperate. I luckily got to talk to someone earlier so this doesn't matter now.
