Title: Does shooting in RAW really not have a time limit?
Post by: mark-rodgers on April 12, 2017, 09:40:57 PM
According to the Magic Lantern faq (http://wiki.magiclantern.fm/faq#how_do_i_record_for_more_than_12_minutes) filming in RAW can film videos as long as you have more space available on your sd card. I have a Canon 6D and am planning to get a 256gb or 512gb SanDisk Extreme Pro SD card (both offer write speeds of 90MB/s). Assuming these cards can be formatted as exFAT and work in my Canon, would I be able to record a wedding ceremony that is approximately 45 minutes, from start to finish? Could this damage my camera? My goal is to record 1080p 24p, but if that is not possible what options do I have?

Interface limit in 6D is about 41 MByte/s in benchmarks. Recording will cause overhead -> less bandwidth useable.
14 bit RAW uncompressed recording will allow you about 720p@24fps.
You will be able to use 10/12-bit RAW recording (Downloads -> Experiments). Lossless compression not available yet.
