Title: DUAL ISO Confusion
Post by: denishogan on March 14, 2017, 12:54:03 AM
Hi All

I have read many posts about this including some on Youtube but I am confused as it seems that the CR2s are used in the process. The CR2's are dropped on the Cr2hdr and converted to DNG's.

I have my canon 5dmkiii on a automated macro rail and once I set the start and end position,I set ML to FRSP /half shutter press. It starts taking DNG's images, not CR2's.
So if I have DUAL ISO enabled , how do I process the DNG's as it does not create CR2's or I just take it into Adobe Camera Raw or LR.

Hope this makes sense,

cheers
Denis

Why don't you test it yourself in the first place?
Just take care to avoid cr2hdr output overwriting original DNG.

And there is an LR plug-in for Dual ISO ...

Thanks Walter. I did test it. After the DNGs were saved, I marked the DNG's and placed on the Cr2hdr but nothing happened. Silly me as I realised it states Cr2->HDR.

I do not use LR but ACR. I will check if there is a ACR Plugin else will acquire LR.

cheers

CR2HDR handles Dual-ISO files named CR2 and DNG. Please check DNG after conversion.

Thanks Walter. I have just downloaded it  and will install the plugin with LR and do a test tonight or on the weekend.

I have been using FRSP Silent DNGS for extreme macro with great success but as I cannot trigger a flash (via half shutter press for Silent DNGs) as the 'flash tweak' is not enabled for the 5dmkIII, I wish to test dual iso and ETTR not only to reduce noise but reveal more detail in the shadows. Some of my stacks range from 300 to 1500 images and the with the Silent DNGs, my understanding is that there is no actuations therefore not impacting my camera shutter quota :-)

Much appreciated
Denis

Hi Walter

I set my camera to, Full Res Silent DNGs ( half shutter press) , dual ISO and auto ettr 100/800 (always on) and too a shot on a tripod.

Attached  are images and dualISO.txt meta data file. So once I processed with plugin in LR then I can just edit with raw editor. Is that correct?
