Title: Focus issues with canon 50d and ML

Hi there I'm a noob to ML I'm having massive issues with focus , shot a whole video the other day only to find after uploading to my mac that the focus was shot !!! auto or manual focus ??? whats best on the lens ??? canon 10mm 1.4

All jokes aside: Do you have similiar problems without ML?

50D cannot film video without ML. But in liveview this cam has only contrast-detect AF, and this method is slow and not well suited for video, it cannot keep in focus a moving object. So you will need to focus manually.

Manual focus and if there is an issue with a basic focus test than your flange distance is incorrect on your lens. You may have lost infinity focus if it's off even slightly (millimeter or less). If you sensor has been knocked loose (extreme and unlikely example) you would also have the same issue. Try another lens, because i doubt this is related to ML unless it's an auto focus movie.
