Has anyone had any success in recovering mlv-files from corrupted cards or drives? Photorec is supposed to have support for mlv but I can't get out any working mlv-files from it.
Help greatly appreciated!
Have you tried in 'paranoid mode' with PhotoRec yet?
Paranoid mode, hehe, funny.
Yes, but unsure of sector-size and offset?
Finally succeeded in recovering all the mlv files. Maybe this can help someone else:
Solution:
I formatted the corrupted KB 256Gb 1200x card with the same file system as before (exfat) and then afterwards I used recuva recovery tool and got all of the files with correct filenames back!
Interesting. Thanks for sharing your results. Question though -- does the free version work?
Yes the free version did the job! I'll buy the full version to support them though :).
Ah, well turns out Recuva is only available for PC -- after searching on google it seems there are 'so many' alternatives similar to this one which was quite extraordinary at least to me!
Perhaps any Mac users have any success with obtaining valid MLV files after recovery as for some reason I can't get around the PhotoRec's bug of some sort?
I also tried renaming the file name (MLV from PhotoRec) to as if it were the original MLV file name to no avail.
p.s. I even tried running this program under Wine and got up to the point where there were a bunch of errors (if it helps I got logs) during installation.
The .exe file boots up fine and runs but not past the installation phase (perhaps I need to install more tricks under advance menu where I only installed vbrun6 from within dll) -- any hints?
