Title: Motion detection on Video setting
Post by: Townhouse on August 03, 2012, 10:08:08 PM
I just installed the most up to date version of ML (donor only, for EOS 550D) and tested it for a shoot tomorrow. In movie mode the 'motion detect' feature now seems to cause the camera to take a still picture, rather than start the recording like it used to in the last version. Does anybody know if this is a deliberate change? Or just a glitch? It could be that I need to change some settings, but I have tried everything I can think of. I will probably have to revert back to the old version if this can't be resolved.
Thanks for your time.

Were you able to remedy this? I'm having the same issue with a T3i.

Never actually tried it, but have you tried setting video to record on half-shutter?

It won't work, I've changed it to photo only.

Old, old post, but as far as I can see, this is still the case (I'm using a Canon 550D). Why was this change made? From the sound of it, it used to work for users, back when it was a feature. Why was it disabled?

Sincerely, Hubert.
