Title: Movie restart
Post by: elpalmero on March 03, 2016, 02:50:55 AM
Hi everyone!
I was recording a video tonight with my Canon 700D on tripod and movie restart function activated.
Unfortunately I realized that reaching 11minutes and 52 seconds (4GB size) the camera continued to film to another file; and so far nothing strange.
The problem is that I think magic lantern saw this action as if the video had stopped, so stopped the movie and started another making me loose important seconds to the video.
This problem should be solved.
There should be a continuous video at least until 29 minutes and 59 seconds Canon limit.
The 4gb fat32 limit is already handled perfectly by canon firmware without any interruptions.

On your camera, movie restart is triggered only if Canon shows a dialog box that tells the recording was stopped (it's actually triggered by that dialog box).

So, in this case, I'm pretty sure the 4GB limit wasn't handled perfectly.

If in doubt, find a way to reproduce, and try with and without movie restart. It should not make any difference.
