Hi developers,
i don't know if this is the right place, and i'm shure that it's to soon to speak about it, but recently canon announced the new eos m camera, that is the first canon mirrorless. Reading about it i've found that it is very similar to our actual eos dslrs, digic 5 processor, probably the same 18mp sensor of the 650d, and a lot of other similarities.
So the question is, do you think a day in the future magic lanter should be compatible with it? i image a little camera capable of all the magic of magic lantern :))
we will see :D
If it has the same backend as the other dSLRs, I think it will work.
We will find the first hint when it will be available (at that point we should be able to run code on it blindly). The final confirmation is after the first firmware update (or earlier, if we guess the LED address blindly).
The register distance of 18mm is interesting :P
That means it will be possible to use virtually any lens, with the proper adapter?
Yeah means should try get hold of some older Canon FD lenses which now bargain price sold everywhere. Just wish Canon would be crazy enough to come out with a full frame Mirrorless camera, cause that be awesome.
touch screen may make things hard (they say almost everything is controlled using the touch screen), but we will have to wait and see.
If they send a touch event with (x,y) position in GUI task, shouldn't be that hard - but interface needs to be redesigned (maybe menu with icons, like in iphone?)
it would be fantastic :) and if you need help in design i'll be happy to help ;))

Yes, almost every lens made by mankind :D
Just a bunch will be left outside.
If the NEX can mount them, the M system can as well.
That's a great move by Canon then - so the EOS-M will have our full support if it will be possible.

EOS-ML? will think about buing it..
Oh yeah, just imagine that little camera with the power of magic lantern aboard :D perfect for a lot of situations where you must stat light but with great iq, and with magic lantern, with great features :)))
Present, if Canon M will be ugly expensive with the adapter on old objectives (there are already 222 dollars on the Internet) - many will simply move on Sony Nex 6 is cheap model Sony Nex 7.
I just got the EOS M. Unfortunately, there's no 3-10x digital zoom even though it was available in dpreview. I also don't see a menu setting for updating firmware, does this mean there's no hope for magic lantern?
that sounds stupid...

Maybe you need to set the shooting mode to M to be able to update the firmware?
On my 600D you can upgrade firmware only if there is a new firmware on the card, same for 400D...

Yep, looks like you missed it :P
seems like the autofocus is a bit on the slow side...

Still is one interesting camera though.
Yes, that's one of the reasons I don't quite like this camera. I'll wait and see if a firmware upgrade improves anything
Good to know. Still don't see 3-10x crop, hopefully that can be ported over with ML at some point.

we want crop mode in 550D too :P
The same applies to people that bought the 650D >:(
Everyone wants crop mode. It lets you resize the YUV buffer so some interesting things are possible. The sizing stuff is rather complicated however. The functions should be present, at least on 60D for sure and possibly going back.
It will be interesting to see, how Canon can win at Sony Nex where is:
1. The rotary screen
2. Original small objectives - already it is a lot of them
3. Peak of focus about focusing possibility of all manual lenses of any manufacturers and term
4. Approach all a manual lens of all the manufacturer
5. It is expressed kompact
6. The panorama is sewed програмой chambers, is available 3D - panoramas
120 days since any reports/replies on the EOS-M camera. Just installed Canon' new 2.0.2 firmware and the focusing has definitely improved. Everything else is still the same.
If you look in the new ports section......
