Title: Set Aspect Ratio for photo, go to liveview, cropmarks reset at half shutter
Post by: virgincola on November 06, 2015, 01:23:23 PM
Hi

I've a 700D. The problem I'm encountering is:
- I want to take a square photo.
- Set aspect ratio at 1:1 through normal menu (not ML).
- Go back to liveview. I have two black borders left and right, which is what I want.
- Press half shutter for focus, borders disappear.
- Take photo, aspect ratio 1:1 is respected.

How to prevent ML from making the black borders disappear?
Or how to manage aspect ratio through ML?

Thanks for any answer

Looks like the method for preventing conflicts between Canon's bottom bar and ML's bottom bar is way too aggressive on 650D, 700D and EOS-M. I've tried it myself on 60D and reproduced the issue.

Here's a pull request that should fix the problem:

Thanks. So it's "normal".

I'm not keen on modifying the code by myself. I'll hope for a fix or make custom cropmarks.

If you want to test a1ex' fix I can compile it for you. The faster testing is done the faster fix will get integrated in main repository.
Tested it here with 650D but I have no 700D to play around with.
