Sorry if dumb question but what exactly is "FPS Override" because i have a 5d mark 2 so is this feature where it makes it possible for me to shoot True Slow Motion
check the user guide for full info on FPS Override.
short answer is, no it is not for slow motion.
you might be able to go up a couple frames, but you can go to .2 frames.
best use for FPS Override is for video time lapse.

A not so well known, but fun application with FPS override is the high jello mode, which works best around 2 or 3 fps.
That is, slit-scan pictures reloaded (with much better image quality than with old implementation).
Hi!
I 'm new in forum. I have the same question:
Why I can' t take slow motion video with 5dii? User guide says: "choose a value from 0.2 fps to 65 frames.".
Can I set on 5dii i.e. 50 frames and "play" the video at 25 frames? The timelapse is the same thing (set 0.2 frames and play at 25 frames), if I understand right.
Sorry for my poor English!
Of course, you can do that (record at 60 fps and play back at 25 to achieve 2.4x slow motion). You'll have to use a video editor for that
Unfortunately you cannot go any higher than 30 fps on the 5D2 since it doesn't have 720p60 or 720p50. That's one of the only downsides of the 5D2 :(
:(
I had the hope that with ML I could make slow motion videos. Bad luck! Fortunately, I haven' t install ML yet.
Anyway, thanks for the replies!

Funny guy! ML won't make your bed either.
Running the new build on my 550D. I read in the manual that certain framerates are "rounded" to their broadcast equivilant.
Setting the FPS override to 24 exactly confims this as the video is still recorded at 23.976. Is it possible to calibrate Magic Lantern
to make it not round and record a true, absolute 24 fps?
The "exact FPS" option will do 24.000.
Thanks Alex. I had tried this earlier but still got a 23.976 file, whereas I'm trying for a 24.000 file. I did some undercranking at 22 fps and it seems that Magic Lantern conforms this to a 23.976 file? On one hand, this is great as I don't have to mess with the speeds in my NLE, but at the same time I'm trying to see if it's possible to get files with these framerates.
You'll have to re-interpret the footage on your video editor and tell him it was shot at XX FPS. The quicktime container is stuck at whatever FPS you selected in canon menus
