Title: USB faulty, any other way to install picture profile (e.g cinestyle)
Post by: giljai on September 16, 2015, 08:48:11 AM
Hi, i have a Canon 5D Mark 2 and my USB port is pretty much fried
I had taken to camera repairs and they all recommended me to replace the Motherboard which is too costly to consider at the moment.
Question: is there any other way to install picture profile such as cinestyle?

Fried as in "Burnt the chip/copper stripes to the ground" or fried as in "mechanical damaged USB connector". If the latter you may contact mobile phone repair shops or any soldering wizzard able to handle SMD properly and ask for assistance.

definitely "Burnt the chip/copper stripes to the ground"
the camera repair guy is a 60 yrs soldering wizard freshly retired from canon KR.
I had already given up on repairing since all the other quotes is pretty much 1/4 or more of my camera values.  :'(

no there is not an other way, best look is to use flat profile made out of neutral - contrast -4, sharpness 0, saturation -2 (I have similar problem with my 7D, usb connector has top be changed, but I have not had opportunity to give it for repairs)
