Title: California Weekend | ML RAW, Canon 7D classic, Davinci Resolve
Post by: photigragraphy on June 27, 2015, 07:50:12 PM
Hello !

Longtime ML user first time poster. Been using ML on my 7D for about 2+ years now, used ML RAW on a few projects over the past year as well. I figured it was about time I share some of my ML projects to the ML community.

This video is the culmination of a long weekend where a few college friends had a chance to visit me in Northern California. More detail on this can be found on my blog at:

As for tech specs:
Camera: Canon 7D Classic
Firmware: ML 2.0.3-ml-Nightly.2
Lenses used: 17-40L, 28-135mm IS, 85 f/1.8, 135L, crappy off brand 100-300 f/4.5-6.3
CF Card: Komputer Bay 32gb 1066x UDMA 7
Format: MLV_RAW 1728x736 at 30fps, no audio
Software: MLRawViewer, Davinci Resolve, FCPX

Everything was shot at 30fps and conformed to 24fps. I was able to take advantage of the 5x zoom feature for select shots to have a some extra reach.

My workflow:
Shoot video -> .MLV files to CinemaDNG's in MLRawViewer -> proxies in Resolve -> edit in FCPX -> color grading in Resolve -> final render from FCPX

Having worked with RAW footage before on several other projects (some other ML stuff and as well as BlackMagic Cameras) my workflow is efficient for my needs.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Feel free to ask questions and any feedback is appreciated. And big thanks to the ML team for making RAW on my 7D a possibility!

Josh Harmon
