Title: 7D Raw field of view while shooting
Post by: cousinavi7 on May 23, 2015, 12:16:20 AM
Hello everyone,

I'm new to magic lantern and just uploaded it to my canon 7D.  I followed the instructions to be able to shoot 2496x1044 Raw 2K video on the 7D.  Everythings great except I have to shoot in 5x magnification.  Am I missing somthing?   Is everyone just shooting now knowing their composition?  I shoot a lot of run and gun and I need to be able to see my frame.  Is there a workaround I'm not aware of?  I haven't been able to find any info about this issue.  What are you guys doing to shoot RAW 2K on the 7D.  Just zooming in and hoping you got your frame later once in the computer?

Confused....

Yes, is the only way to do it.

you can make a crop mark image http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Cropmarks (http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Cropmarks) so you can make composition in regular mode, then move to 5x and shoot.

Keep in mind these cameras were never intended to be used like this, if you want raw and see the frame get black magic camera or any other camera that is built for this. I still do not see the point in using raw for anything dynamic and for most it is way too complicated and not worth it. Thre are cases, but i would call them exceptions.
