Title: Nikon - Raw Video
Post by: Kharak on May 02, 2015, 11:36:10 PM
Didn't see anyone else post about this.

Seems Raw is coming for Nikon too! according to Redsharknews its on a highly experimental state.. More or less in an infancy state.

Guess our beloved ML cameras were too at one point.: http://www.redsharknews.com/production/item/2558-is-this-nikon-s-magic-lantern-moment-the-prospect-of-5k-raw-video-from-nikon-dslrs

Just checked it out also it seems like they are making major progress, the only thing I see is that they will be limited to the SD Write Speed.

Limited to SD writing speeds...

That's what makes me laugh when they mention it could pe possible to record 5K raw video ;)
12 bit 5K raw video, even in cinema 21:9 aspect ratio needs more then about 385MB/s in uncompressed raw...

I have not found any video yet..

Maybe too soon to say "raw video", seems they've managed to get a raw stream..  But also wondering about what Levas wrote about 5k. Though the Bufferes onthe Nikon Cameras might be able to contain much more information than the Canon cameras.

D800 I know has a problem with bursts. Take a high speed burst of 30 pictures and the camera freezes for more than 30 seconds while processing it, not sure if this applies to the cameras they are currently working on.
