Title: is 113 firmware better for raw video rather than 123?
Post by: blainesuque on February 10, 2015, 03:22:37 AM
Hi all,

Ive been checking back every now and then to see if there has been any updating for canon 5d mark 3 123 build, and it seems like they stopeed in august of 2014 . but i noticed that theres constant updating builds for the canon 5d mark 3 113 build. Do you suggest to use the 113 firmware and build primarily for RAW video? and is there any talks of the new firmware 133?

This has been asked once too many times.

I've tested along with most of us as well on both firmwares and confirmed that latest nightly 113 has slightly longer recording times than 123.

There's a good reason why RAW and 113 still exists... Thanks @a1ex for that!

Regarding 1.3.3 support: https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/pull-request/605/support-for-5d3-firmware-133/diff (https://bitbucket.org/hudson/magic-lantern/pull-request/605/support-for-5d3-firmware-133/diff)

I haven't benchmarked it but I wouldn't expect the performance to be any different to the 1.2.3 version.

What is the highest width and height (16:9) you get continuous 30 fps with 1.1.3?
I get continuous 1792x1008 with 1.2.3. Both with x1000 and x1066 CF cards. I just want to know if difference is worth downgrading.

113 does not have HDMI mirroring. Correct me if I am wrong.

Correct. I use 123 if I need to use HDMI out for certain shoots per producers requests.

Prefer 113 overall though.

Thank for checking!  On 1.2.3 1856x1044@30fps records about 40seconds on x1066 CF.

Cool and that's exactly the reason(s) why 113 is still around and bleeding nightlies like crazy!

Yes, there is "win" in filename but who cares?
