Title: how long can we record RAw on 700D / t5i
Post by: mannfilm on January 17, 2015, 08:45:36 PM
Theoretically, how long can you record RAW, and at what resolution, on a 700D / t5i?

I know there are some other threads, but they are swamped in questions about types of cards, settings, failures, etc

It would be very useful if someone could simply say what is possible.

Thanks in advance.

Theoretically?
ML will tell you required bandwidth/data rate for each resolution/framerate combination.
And maximum write rate supported in 700D is about 41 MByte/s.

If you want to do the math for yourself:

Required bandwidth (Byte/s) = Vertical resolution * horizontal resolution * frame rate * 14 / 8
Divide by 1024 * 1024 and you get MByte/s. That's what ML will calculate, too.

And recording duration is
Cards capacity (in MByte) / data rate
