Title: [ALREADY DONE] User friendly custom White Balance setings
Post by: PedjaS on January 07, 2015, 01:56:33 AM
I use 650D, and when I need to set custom WB, i have to make one show of white surface and then go to potion for custom WB settings to load that shot.

User friendlier cameras offer that as single task: user opens custom WB settings, he is lead to make shot at the spot, and after that shot is automatically used to set custom WB.

Is there chance to get something like this in ML?

This is something I've always wanted to do on Canon DSLRs.  Being able to simply point at a white surface in movie mode, press a button, and instantly white balance to whatever the sensor sees at that moment.  If the camera isn't capable of that, I'd at least like to be able to use the click-wheel to adjust color temperature 100K at a time.  Would be a feature many film makers would love to have.

This is already possible with ML installed and works quite well w my 5D3 and EOS-M (but don't use it often anymore because I like to be able to control them manually which you still can even after using custom AWB)

Not sure if it'll work for your 650D but check out the Prefs section in ML menu

and scroll down to Arrow/SET shortcuts > ISO/Kelvin (Set to ON) as well as 'Use SET Button' (set to ON)

and then Press RATE button (again this is on 5D3 -- not sure for 650D) where you will then see layout options on LCD whereas if gives you choices to increase/decrease ISO or Kelvins and then there's also a middle button that says 'PushWB'

which is I believe what you were referring to earlier...

Good Luck!
