I have a huge problem: I installed the nightly-build the same way this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixlBsai0NDM) shows except for the reinstalling canon firmware part. Having that done, things started going wrong: first, the red LED of the 7D didn't blink even once after turning off and after restarting some kind of a hybrid between canon and magic lantern appeared. If I put in an unformatted cf-card in the camera, it won't even turn on.
I'm very desperate and already lost my faith in this risky business.
I now just want my old camera back as fast as possible so please help if you know how to.
And as I'm not a native speaker, please answer in easy understandable english.

Remove battery.
Format card using a card reader.
Make sure battery is charged.
Insert card into cam.
Insert battery.
Startup.
Results?
And it doesn't make sense to load *all* modules at once.
Update: I managed to reinstall canon 2.0.3 via another cf-card.
I formatted the other card with ML on and put it back in but camera screen stays black. How do I make that one working again.

Other thing is: With the working card in, the black and white display on top starts much slower than without cf-card. I'm not sure if it has already been like that before the incident, but still kind of see this as proof for an "overwritten ML file" still being in the camera. Am I totally wrong?
You need 3 things to run ML:
Camera with bootflag set
Bootable card
ML dir and files (esp. AUTOEXEC.BIN) on card
Cam's bootflag is responsible for 1-2 seconds delay at startup/wake up from sleep.
Cam's bootflag will remain set and has to be uninstalled if unwanted.

But I actually don't want to run ML anymore. Do I need to reinstall it to get rid of this bootflag (please explain what this is:S)?

Yes, you have to run installation again and follow the instructions. Wait 30 seconds after completion to get rid of ML.
Please tell what the bootflag is. Otherwise I can't get started.
And where should I do the reinstall on? On the still working one (which I don't want to wreck) or on the currently not working one?

The situation is: Both cards are now usable. With one it says canon firmware 2.0.3 and the other one says nightly-built...
BUT both operating systems look absolutely the SAME. If I press reinstall with the already ML one, nothing changes.
Do you understand that I don't want to waste the other cf-card as well? I'm afraid it will also not be reversible once ML is installed.
Maybe that all has something to do with me turning it on too fast when the red light didn't blink after the first installation. what could possibly happen if you turn it on to soon?

If you would have read FAQs and understood my second post you would be aware that ML is loaded from the card. If there is no ML enabled card you are running in a pure Canon environment. Therefore the firmware info will tell you're running Canon's firmware. If ML is loaded firmware information will tell you're running ML.
If all conditions are met to run ML: You're running ML
If not: You're not running ML.

but that answers only half of my questions. Something strange is happening in my example: there are some features from ML in the canon firmware like little numbers indicating battery status in the window after you press the Q-Button. Reinstalling the card didn't change anything, I still can't uninstall or anything as it is not available in the canon firmware. Have you ever encountered a similar case?

Nimm die Karte auf der ML installiert ist, starte damit die Kamera und mach ein Firmware Update. Warte nach "Sucess" 30 Sekunden und ML ist deinstalliert.
Alter Schwede, wenn ich das gewusst hätte. Nun habe ich doch noch die Bootflag gefunden. Echt tausend Dank! Etwas mehr Geduld hättest du dennoch zeigen dürfen. Mich würde es dennoch gerne interessieren, weshalb bei mir nur das "halbe ML" angezeigt wurde.

Ja. Wer das Risiko eingeht, seine Kamera zu schrotten und dann hinterher darueber klagt, dass ihm seine Kamera zu wertvoll fuer dieses Risiko ist, muss sich schon fragen lassen, was man sich denn bei dem Experiment gedacht hat. Es ist ja nicht so, dass man die Warnhinweise versteckt, die sich mit dem Gebrauch von Nightly Builds (bzw. ML allgemein) ergeben.
