Hey guys, I've been doing timelapses for a while have had great luck with them as long as the light isn't drastically changing. I've recently tried my hand at day to night lapses with terrible results.
I followed the sticky post word for word using the ETTR method with the deflicker module but my results are a little odd. Basically, the image gets darker and darker and then all of the sudden jumps back up to decently exposed. Then it gets darker and darker until finally another drastic jump up. This happens probably 5-10 times during an 8 second timelapse. So it's no a fluid exposure ramp at all. It's like the program is waiting for the exposure to dip below a certain level and then it boosts it back up harshly.
I'm using a Canon 5D mkII with a 24-105L. I'm usually starting around an ISO 100, F13, 1/20 Shutter Speed. I have the ML intervalometer set to about 10 seconds between shots and I'm doing around 300 shots.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm going on a road trip this weekend and would love to feel a bit more confident in the day to night time lapses.
