Title: RAW Video: strange issue on Mac
Post by: shotup on July 25, 2014, 01:24:09 AM
Hi everyone

I have a very strange issue on my MacBook when I convert RAW files into Cinema DNGs with RawMagic Lite.

Here are my specs:

Canon 5D Mark III with firmware 1.2.3 and ML Nightly.2014Jul16.5D3123.
raw_rec.mo (v1.0)

RawMagic Lite 1.1.3

MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2009, Mac OS X 10.8.5, 8GB RAM

I can view the RAW files with MLRawViewer without any issue. However, the playback is not smooth but I guess that's because of my older MacBook Pro.

But when I convert the raw files with RawMagic Lite and I try to preview the files in Finder, it looks like this: (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11741888/Screenshot%202014-07-25%2001.19.33.png)

When import the DNGs into Premiere Pro CC 2014, it looks like this: (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11741888/Screenshot%202014-07-25%2001.21.49.png)

But when I open the DNGs with Photoshop CC 2014, everything is fine.

On my MacPro, I don't have this issues.

Any help is appreciated.

There's been talk on the forum that sometimes depending upon what application and on which OS you use to view an ML DNG file, it will be displayed differently due to how that app processes the file and its meta data. What you're experiencing is probably codec related to the image's black level.
