Title: 600D/T3i issue with taking pictures
Post by: covxx on July 01, 2014, 07:50:22 PM
(Copying and pasting this from reddit post)
Yesterday i was shooting outside and I felt my camera getting really hot so I put it into my bag. Now whenever I take a picture it'll take long to display the photo and the SD card LED wont go away(locks up). I did have ML installed (just uninstalled it) and I formatted both my SD cards but nothing is helping. Considering sending it into repair since its under warranty.

Update: Taking a picture without the lens on makes it go normal, it'll keep saying busy(with or without a card) but with the lens it locks up. Trying to use liveview locks up the camera too(says busy). I cleaned to lens contact with alcohol but didnt help

Now today I reinstalled ML and updated to the lastest nightly and now live view works but when I take a picture this happens.

UPDATE: Live view broke again
Heres what I got from the log

Here you can find a tool to get a detailed error log: http://magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?topic=12374.msg119446#msg119446

It doesn't contain any error. Did it work fine this time?

At least this line suggest the image was captured correctly:

This is strange, no it 'freezes' on trying to write it to the SD card. If I turn the camera off it'll stay recording image until I take out the battery

So I can write read  the SD card with a ml benchmark

and write now. So if it can write and read the SD card via ML it cant be hardware right, i mean it is saying the image was captured correctly

Strangely when I try to do the 5 min test itll shut off a little bit into it

Sounds frustrating. Maybe it is in need of repair. Ive been running ML on my 600Ds since 2012 and never came across this weirdness.

What about video mode?
Other lenses?
Start without ML (hold SET)?
Cycle thru Modes (Av,Tv,M, etc)?

That is all  can think of that you might try. The screen may be defective or maybe the lens circuitry is roached. Good Luck.

You may want to look after your cam's "Auto power off" option. ML will just shut down if this timeout runs off.

So very overdue update but I had gotten a replacement body from Cannon and put this one away, after a few months I randomly tired turning it on and it worked without issues. Incase someone runs into this.
